Since I've blogged and I apologize. First off, everything is great. Bryce is great, hubby is great, I'm great. I seriously just don't have a lot of time any longer. When I do have time to blog, I sit down, compose a wonderful or semi-wonderful post, and something happens! I've lost two whole entire freakin post in the past two weeks with pictures. Ack! Talk about pissed.
Let's see, where shall we start?
We just got off an eight day vacation at the beach. It was heavenly despite that fact that I gained six pounds on vacation. How I don't know as it was hard doing the beach thing with a small child and very hard to bear the 100 degree heat but it was nice and semi relaxing, lots of work though. We mostly hung out at the pool as the ocean(being in the ocean) freaked Bryce out. He didn't mind playing in his baby tent on the beach but wanted no part of having his feet in the ocean. Which surprised me as this kid is part fish I swear. He loves to be in the pool with us.
Bryce is now nine and half months. He's in the 91st percentile for his weight and the 86th percentile for his height. He started to crawl about three weeks ago but would not go very far. Well, at the beach he perfected his crawl and now is all over the place. He's pulling up, cruising furniture, and I swear he will be walking within the next couple of weeks. I went to get him out of his crib last Sunday morning and found him standing in his crib holding onto his rails and jumping up and down like he was in his Johnny Jumper. Nice....
It has actually made him a lot happier to be able to get around on his own now. For a while when he was working on his crawl he would get stuck on his belly and get super pissed. He's actually doing the downward facing dog yoga position and trying his hardest to stand on his own with no assistance. I thought for sure because he was so big that he would be a "late bloomer" when it came to crawling and walking but I guess I was wrong. I do know that now that he is mobile his weight gaining is slowing down a bunch. He's thinned out a lot. He's also into everything!
He said "da da" on Father's Day and it absolutely made my whole husband's year. He can say da da, ma ma, kitty cat, and pop pop(for his grandfather's). He also will clap his hands and say "yeahhhhh" with me when he hears and sees me do it. He points at every single thing he sees and tries to make some kind of word. It cracks me totally up. He's so sweet and will give kisses now. Open mouthed slobbery wet kisses... The best! His favorite game by far at the moment has to be crawling around chasing our dog and cat.
He will eat almost anything if it's broken into small pieces. We're starting to get him away from the baby foods now and I've started cooking a whole lot more. He's had egg yokes, chicken, green beans, peas, carrots, yogurt, muffins, bagels lightly toasted, vanilla wafers, sweet potatoes, spaghetti, pasta. So much stuff I can't type it all. This kid LOVES food. He still gets a little gaggy with some textures but he's doing so well. He's starting to feed himself a lot of these foods also. He misses his mouth alot, but eventually it makes it sometimes. There is a whole lot of mushing of the foods in his hands also but he's learning so very well. We are working with weaning him off his bottle. I'm taking one bottle a month and replacing it with a sippy cup of formula. I think the hardest bottle is going to be the morning bottle. He's only taking 3 bottles a day now and one sippy of milk. So far things have went well and hopefully by age one he'll be off of the bottle. I'm so glad I started his sippy cup at five months as he doesn't even miss his bottle that I replaced so far. Hopefully they rest of the bottles will go as smoothly.
We signed our adoption petition on Wednesday so hopefully within the next couple of months his adoption will be finalized. Terminating unknown birth father's rights really held us up with his adoption but the rights are finally terminated and we are finally almost there. I will try to post some pictures tomorrow as I'm scared I'll lose another pos t if I don't publish this now.
